The 7.62mm Shpagin Model 1941 submachine gun (PPSh) is a Soviet submachine gun designed in 1940 by designer G.S. Shpagin to fire 7.62 × 25mm TT ammunition and adopted by the Red Army on December 21, 1940. The PPSh along with PPS-43 was the main submachine gun of the Soviet Armed Forces during the Great Patriotic War.
